FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 30, 2024

ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones issued a statement on the signing of Senate Bill 465, “Austin’s Law”. Austin’s Law helps to combat the fentanyl crisis in our state by addressing the sale and distribution of illicit substances.

“Austin’s Law will help save the lives of Georgians by fighting back against the criminals that traffic these deadly substances,” said Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. “Actions have consequences, and in Georgia traffickers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I want to thank Governor Kemp for all his support to help combat the fentanyl crisis. I also want to thank Senator Russ Goodman for his hard work and dedication in crafting this vitally important and necessary legislation. Today’s signing of Austin’s Law marks a pivotal moment in our efforts to help end this deadly epidemic.”
